Ip Man 2 (2010) Movie Reaction & Review!! FIRST TIME WATCHING IP MAN 2
In this movie reaction we are watching Ip Man 2 (2010) for the first time ever!! We both can’t believe we have never seen this movie/franchise before. In this film inspired by a true story, Wing Chun martial arts master Ip Man (Donnie Yen) and his family are moving from Foshan, China, to Hong Kong, where Ip aspires to create a school so that he may teach his fighting techniques to a new generation. However, he finds resistance from an asthmatic Hung Ga master named Hong Zhen Nan (Sammo Hung). Soon, Ip is drawn into a treacherous world of corruption as well as a fateful showdown with a merciless boxer known as the Twister (Darren Shahlavi).

Yi Yi (Chinese: 一一; pinyin: Yī Yī; lit. ‘one one’) is a 2000 Taiwanese drama film written and directed by Edward Yang. The film’s theme centers around the emotional struggles of an engineer named NJ (played by Wu Nienjen) and three generations of his middleclass Taiwanese family who reside in Taipei.
The title in Chinese means “one by one” (meaning “one after another”). When written in vertical alignment, the two strokes resemble the character for “two”: (二).
Yi Yi premiered at the 2000 Cannes Film Festival, where Yang won the Best Director Award. It is now generally regarded as one of the major films of the 2000s.

Hey guys! Love what your doing here! I just watched your both Ip Man reactions along with The Raid. I have tons of recommendations since I've watched many martial arts movies and especially starring Ip Mans Donnie Yen who has made many incredible interpretations of martial arts stories. I would really love for you guys to react to "Dragon Tiger Gate" which is a crazy martials movie based off a Chinese comic and ofcourse starring ip man/Donnie Yen as one of the main characters. Im sure youll love it. Also you guys should check out Jet Li's "Fist of Legend" which has drama with China and Japan along with incredible martial arts annnd check out Jet Li's "Fearless" which has an incredible storyline martial arts n emotions. Keep doing what you guys are doing, I love it! ❤🍾

Also regarding boxing vrs wing Chun and which would win, that is at the heart of many of these martial arts movies. Two people fight and the one who wins claims that the fighting style used is superior. But really there’s more to it than that. The better fighter might win because they have trained longer or have more experience. They might be in better shape. Twister in the move above was likely decades younger, much bigger and stronger than his opponents. Martial arts can bridge the gap between someone smaller or weaker when they fight someone untrained. But if both are trained you have to take these things into account.
If you like a storyline along with great action, Jet Li’s Fearless is a good choice. I’ll warn you that it’s very sad but uplifting.

I think in the movie, I don't think it's so much that the boxer is "so good", but that he has an overwhelming physical advantage. He's like twice Ip Man's size which makes him several weight classes above him (which is something that I think is super strict in boxing, usually you're only allowed to fight in your weight class, because they consider even a few pounds a significant advantage). He also has a ton of reach over him which is also often a big advantage in fights (and Ip Man being able to use kicks was one of the things that helped him make up for that, I think). It's really a David vs Goliath kind of situation – Ip Man is so tiny and this guy is gargantuan. The amount of skill necessary to overcome those disadvantages, as well as the strength and endurance he has to have in that little form of his in order to take punches from that much dedicated muscle and to really hurt a boxer with as much endurance as him… that's what makes Ip Man so impressive here.
Boxing is a lot more limited in what's allowed, in terms of where and how you can strike, so that's a disadvantage for him, even if only because he's mostly trained and honed his body to throw and take a punch. Also if he wasn't wearing those gloves, the amount of power he's trained to dish out with his fists would probably have ruined Ip Man's chances of surviving. I'd say any style that doesn't have those restrictions has the advantage, but I'd definitely argue the weight and size advantage blows all of that out of the water here. I'm sure someone with an actual understanding of weight class and martial arts and stuff can better explain if and why all of that might be true or not.

Sammo Hung is an absolute legend. He trained at the same Chinese Opera School as Jackie Chan and somehow when he put on weight he lost none of his martial arts ability. He not only gave some absolutely dazzling martial arts scenes in a whole slew of films, but also fought against Bruce Lee at the start of Enter the Dragon and also became adept at fight choreography (he choreographed the action in this film and its predecessor) and directing.
There are so many classic Sammo films out there. One of my favourites of his (which is also deemed by many to be his finest directorial achievement) is Eastern Condors.

Yes, an experienced boxer can win over someone doing Wing Chun. EXCEPT if you're Bruce Lee. He wasn't so good because of Wing Chun, he was so good because he was Bruce Lee.

Look at old ufc and pride fights. They were exactly like what you were talking about. There were no weight classes, no style divisions, just an anybody vs anybody fight. BJJ got popularized worldwide because Gracie fought people off all different backgrounds and fighting styles, and summarily destroyed them.
