Watching this video on my Z Fold 3 and I'm loving it. I've spent the last four years with the note 8 as my daily and nothing since has inspired me to upgrade. This phone finally got me excited again.
There is a reason Apple hasn't done this. I'll wait. After 3 versions of this, it's still not "right". I hate the crease in the center of the phone. Unavoidable due to the design, but I can't work with looking at that all day.
The S-Pen use on this is not pretty. The screen flex just to me, ruins the whole idea of it.
it's way too expensive to not be near perfect. Can't even hold the S-Pen? Really, that should have been thought out better.
Lets face it, you have to baby this phone. It's a very cool trick to pull off where you can use a flexible high quality screen and combine it with a very useful front facing screen in compact mode. Build quality looks terrific, but in my very honest opinion. It's not ready yet. At least not for me.

Is the first time I’m not going to upgrade mi phone. Z Fold 2 has a decent battery. 60 Hz is not that annoying to me. And Samsung is giving us the same set of cameras again
More Youtubers, influences should pressure Google/Youtube to have some consistency on the features they provide across all platform. Its not just the fold/flip, i have a Tab S6 and its still lacking features that a typical phone youtube app would. I just dont understand why the need to separate feature per platform. Just change the layout, aspect ratio…not the features.

i preordered the fold 3. I wonder if there is a way to lower the refresh rate to conserve battery. I don't think i will ever need the front cover screen at 120 hz.

You know, for all the trouble that this double screen is worth, it just makes me wonder, if Microsoft's Surface Duo with their two-screened Android phone solution, is in fact a better way of doing it. I mean, it still allows you to run two apps side-by-side. What more do you want?
Now sure, they may well be housed in different discrete screens which are split by a 360-degree hinge, but is it really that much more ugly, than a single screen solution with a visible seam in the middle?
If I was streaming Netflix or a video call, then sure, the single screen obviously looks better, (even with its slightly visible seam); but if I'm running multiple apps, then the quality control and manufacturing advantages of having two screens make it a more cost efficient and functionally viable alternative.
AND!! if you could design it to have the two phones disassemble, so they can be used individually, then you could just start by purchasing one premium flagship phone to begin with, and upgrade later with a cheaper second phone. And you could then disassemble it when you only needed to use just the one phone.
In my personal opinion, it's only when you get to the point where you have a 3 piece, three-way z-fold that opens up to a 16:9 aspect ratio, and perfectly flat with no visible seams, (which then allows you to watch flawless looking video streams), that this technology becomes ultimately and perfectly legitimised. Anything less and it's just a gimmick in my opinion.
And if you can reduce the screen thickness to the size of a credit card, (including the folding mechanism), and sell for under USD $1,000… (and also have it with multiple CPUs, capable of running Windows 11 or 12 in native mode), then it would probably make every other Android device obsolete.
If I was in a spaceship flying on a colonisation mission to Mars, I would want nothing less in my spacesuit pocket. It would need to have the George Jetson seal of approval.
Got my Fold 3 today. 7 days early so well done to Samsung for that one. Really loving it.

Wonderful video. Give me a feel for what it might be to have one. Would love to get MKBHD's opinion on the new Galaxy Watch 4. At least on his take in Samsung back on board Wear OS. Can't afford a Z Fold 3, nor even the Z Flip 3, but a Galaxy Watch 4 40mm is within my budget. Just hoping he reviews it.
