With neighborhoods throughout the Caldor Fire evacuation zones beginning to repopulate, there’s a new concern about what residents might find when they return home. “When you come home and if you find that it looks like a window’s open or door’s open and something has accessed into your house, don’t rush in and definitely don’t block that spot,” said Tahoe bear expert Toogee Sielsch. “It might be a wild animal that has made ingress into your house because that spots the only way they’re going to know to get out of your house,” Sielsch continued. Unfortunately, a lot of these bears are going to be killed by Fish & Wildlife because people will complain about them going after their French bulldogs and getting into the garbage; you can tell the woman in the video was terrified of that bear. I live above Nevada City California Nevada County I have encountered two bears in the last two weeks one with a cub my dog has been freaking out we are at least an hour outside of Lake Tahoe besides the fire they are coming down looking for food and water they have broken into my cabin twice the one that's not occupied they know how to open doors and break into homes it's amazing anyways be careful yes it's unnerving just my opinion Joe Dirt NorCal

Just as the humans that fled their land, bears are also survivors of this disaster. Feeding stations should be set up outside of residential areas until their habitat regenerates. They need to build up their body reserves before they hibernate. Have some empathy for them and don't label them as nuisances or invaders.
