  1. Growing up, I think I had a lot of Shirou's issues. I do get where he's coming from. If everyone acted in service to others, the world would be a kinder place. If all life is precious, surely one life given to save another is a noble thing. The more that you can save with that one sacrifice, the better. What is my one life weighed against the lives of two others? There was a point where I would have been very willing to take a bullet for someone else.

Now, as I enter my 28th year, I'm not so sure. In 12 years, I've come to realize that my one life isn't isolated. What happens to me affects those around me who care, and that there are people who would grieve that I'd never expect. Sacrificing my potential for brining pain or joy to those around me to save someone else's potential to do the same…is that even something I can weigh? Is it something I can measure? In a way, Rin is also right. Living purely for others isn't natural. It's twisted. But I can't decide if either of them are wrong. Maybe one day I'll have my answer.

  2. It's not a question about whether you are right or wrong.
It's a matter about doing what you believe in the most.
    This really fits Emiya well.
When you think about it, Emiya pretty much lost everything. His family, his childhood friends, his neighbours.
He was a no one. Saved by Kiritsugi.
Living slowly like a human after realising that everything in your childhood is gone.
Falling in love with your girlfriend.

The core of HF is basically in simple terms,

Are you willing to kill the person you love, the person that made you feel happy again for the sake of the greater good, for the sake of 'living'? Or are you willing to let the world die for a single person?
Are you willing to let the same tragedy happen again to others? Or are you willing to fall in love?
It's the same thing Kiritsugi had suffered in Fate/Zero.
Are you willing to be the thing that you hated the most?
    For someone you love?

  3. I can't really tell which is my favorite route, Fate has my favorite romance, UBW has my favorite Shirou, Heaven's Feel has my favorite storyline, maybe because I love Illya so much I end up preferring Heaven's Feel, but it still sounds so wrong to try prefer one of them, when everyone has something that the other does not have.

  4. There are more than two choices. Life is not binary for example you can:
    1)Kill everyone
    2)Save Everyone
3)Runaway and let the situation sort itself out.

That aside, l don't really get killing Sakura on day 9 since she didn't do anything wrong and she even saved Shirou twice so he should at least try to save her in return but mind of steel Shirou didn't even try to help. Also, killing someone because something bad might happen in the future is flimsy because the future can always change and is too uncertain. But if we're gonna kill people for what they might do in the future then everybody is on the chopping block starting with mos Shirou especially if he becomes a counter guardian. The worst part about mos Shirou is that he doesn’t care about people at all. He just treats them like objects in need of saving one moment and will kill them if the situation calls for it at another moment. Just like Kiritsugu Mos Shirou is loyal only to his ideology alone. In fate extra, Shirou becomes an unaccountable law breaking vigilante/mercenary/terrorist who kills innocence along with the guilty for his own self-gratification of “becoming a hero” then justifies their deaths as meaningful sacrifices as if those people ever asked to be sacrificed and he doesn’t do anything to help those caught in the crossfire and left injured due to his escapades just like Kiritsugu. Sometimes, I think the reason Archer emiya wanted to stop being a counter guardian was that he realized that he would just keep killing and killing even the people he once saved would die at his hands eventually and no true change was actually occurring. Merely increasing body count doesn’t solve problems all the time since we also need healers like doctors. On the other hand, heavens feel Shirou was too damn passive and didn’t look for a way to save Sakura until she went full berserk mode. However, I do think the real test begins when we have to choose to kill Sakura after she goes berserk but being passive like Hf Shirou instead of actively looking for a cure is not a good thing. Though I do think that for all his talk about becoming a hero Shirou is too passive and rarely does heroic things until the situation really calls for it. Anyway, I may agree with killing Sakura after the first real berserk stage, but l don't support it one bit since l view Sakura as innocent either way since she has been abused and is pretty much possessed thus not acting of her own accord so separating her from Angry Matthew would be the real solution. Then l would punish the people who made her suffer so they wouldn't do to others what they did to Sakura. Lastly, l think Sakura is a symptom of the real issue, which is the holy grail war, Tokiomi not giving her to a good family and madmen like Zouken and Shinji abusing her for who knows how long. If it weren't for these things Sakura would not be in this situation. Also, the same thing about being symptoms of deeper issues can apply to counter guardians and people like Kiritsugu otherwise situations like this will keep on repeating themselves endlessly. So even if Shirou kills Sakura he still needs to punish the people who wronged her in the first place then make sure a situation like this and the holy grail wars don't happen again. Again, sacrificing the few for the many just prolongs the inevitable if the real problems aren't dealt with. Plus, if not careful it creates more problems like the death of innocents, destruction of property and livelihoods, revenge-seeking from those who lost their loved ones, or the cops trying to arrest the one who sacrificed others lives. Also, it's ironic that those who preach about the needs of the many want to go about enforcing what they believe to be the needs of the many when it's actually their own personal individual beliefs of what they think the majority wants.

  5. Just finished Heaven's Feel true ending today, and I wanna read it all over again. Sakura's despair and Shirou's shattered dreams were just so touching.

  6. It's been idk how many years since I first played/read fate/stay night and it's still one of my favorite stories ever as well as my first visual novel. And this song in particular defines the story so much, its emblematic, maybe even more than the original version which is the true main song of the game.

  7. This, Emiya and Ever Present Feeling are the tracks that I associate most strongly with this VN, and each with a specific route. Though each is used in every route, a different one is used in each of the routes' pivotal moments where Shirou resolves his inner conflict and the story enters the end-game.

This Illusion beneath the church in Fate, where he's forced to confront the children that weren't saved.
Emiya in Unlimited Blade Works where he's forced to confront his likely future if he continues on his current path.
Ever Present Feeling in Heaven's Feel, in the ditch while considering whether to remove the Shroud of Martin.

  8. This has GOT to be one of the best mood-enhancing background music ever. It enhances the emotional impact of a scene 10 folds, even when it was just Archer talking to Shirou.

  9. I still think there are other choices besides those two for example:
    3) Screw this l'm out and hopefully it will resolve itself.
    4) Why do people always have to die in this scenario? I'm going to get enough power to save both Sakura and the world.
    5) We're all gonna die. Might as well speed up the process and kill everyone.
    6) Kotomine may be lying so go look for another way to save Sakura but she may need to be contained in the mean time.

  10. i think that HF is the route with more variety, not the best, but with more variety than the other two, they explain a lot of things of the Nasuverse (like what happens if shirou has something physical from archer i.e his arm),Shirou's Inner conflicts and feelings, the epicness of the battles and dialogues (shirou vs. saber alter "bad end"…SEIBAAAAAAA) and the fact that Shirou from HF,unlike his counterparts, never developed his magic skills too much (reinforcement,NORMAL projection and no tracing) until the Archer's Arm obtention…really a good route,oh and here's a good line from HF in the "Bad End" (Rider doesn't accept the alliance and shirou battles Saber Alter alone) i'll do it resumed,of course,is very long for a comment,i'll do it to the point that shirou use the Archer's Arm (almost in the start of the fight) to something impactant

    Shirou: Trace,On!

    I create the weapon.
The Swords that holds the minor pressure in me of all possible projections
The symbol that Archer wielded all his life,Twin Steel Swords

    Yin-Sword Bakuya,Yang-Sword Kanshou
They don't have any Special Skill, but they are swords of great tenacity
Saber Alter: The Swords of Archer,do you not choose to imitate my sword,Shirou?
    Shirou:"——————————————————————–"
With a little amount of struggle,i try to understand Saber's words
    …What she said?
…She told me why i don't trace his sword?

  11. Before anyone dares to roast Sakura (my least favourite Fate heroine BTW) keep in mind, that she was THE ONLY ONE, that made Shiro give up his ideals (bar Miyu in Ilyaverse, but that's a different story altogether).

  12. The black shadows that I saw

Of that day I seen in my dreams

None of their cries could reach out to me

It seems now that no matter what

The “me” I see of tomorrow

Is drenching in wishes that will not lose their hues

The scattered fragments with reflected glow

Catch them with both of those hands

Hold my swaying heart before it’s too late

And leap toward the night that never ends

Even though I depend on someone

There is nothing else that I wish for and that's because

My true self is right here for you to see, on display

Don't close your eyes or look away

That smile you wore on your face

Blow in the cold winds of dusk

Caught in the waste, burnt out its hope

Right now it seems that no matter what

Praying for the “me” of tomorrow

The answers in the distance still fade from of view

This frozen body that shivers here all alone

With these flakes of hidden feelings

Before they rot away like molded debris

Leap past the night that's thicker than stone

Even though I depend on someone

There is nothing else that I wish for and that's because

My true self is right here for you to see, on display

Don't close your eyes or look away

To live just for someone else' sake

This moment may count for everything, say isn't that so?

Gently cast aside your fake self you knew yesterday

And just be who you are today

  13. I somehow just began to hope that there will be an Aimer arrangement to this version that will be played either when Shirou is going to take the shroud off or just during the Excalibur projection sequence in Heaven's Feel III. Spring Song.

  14. "I was not wrong." Although Emiya Shirou will endlessly selfishly pursue selflessness, at the end of his eternal path, he will know that even for all the wrongs he has committed, the amount of hypocrisy he has done, the hells he has left behind, his path of selfish selflessness to be a Savior, a Hero of Justice, to save everyone was truly, utterly, breathtakingly, blindingly, and rawly beautiful. Emiya Shirou was never truly a hero, even for all his heroic deeds, he was an ordinary man with an inhuman determination. He never once retreated, even if he never truly won a "victory." That ordinary man tried again and again, even if each time in his path to reach extraordinary heights, he failed. The only thing he won at the end of his road, was the knowledge that he never betrayed his ideals, even if they betrayed him again and again. At the end of his life he saw on a hill of hell, skewered by an innumerate amount of swords, his Reality Marble, Unlimited Blade Works. And so wishing to save more people one last time, he summoned what was left of his life, to chant his aria, that sad poem of his existence, "I am the bone of my sword…"

  15. 2019 old memories old times playing the novel old moments of happiness without knowing anything about responsibilities all that comes to my mind when I hear this so old :´(

  16. Just got back from watching Fate/Stay Night Heaven’s Feel II: Lost Butterfly over at L.A. Live. It was awesome and I want to see this visual novel picture since the movie version of that made me have somber, romantic, and epic feels.

  17. HF第二章を見てからこれを聴くと涙が止まらない。桜はこのひと時でも士郎といれて幸せだっただろうな。
